Hi Sonny, Long time no see. We have just been listening to some of your music on Face Book and your web site. I think the last time we met up was at one of your gigs in the 90's in Dublin. We are now living in Cornwall, and would love to hear from you again. I remembering doing the mixing at a gig in Redruth in the 70's. I'm not sure but I think Louden Wainright 3rd was also playing. Hope you are well

Hi Sonny

Thoroughly enjoyed the gig in Edinburgh earlier this week - and a real treat to hear 'Down in the City' and 'Eyelids into Snow' live. Great singing, masterful guitar - and happy memories for me of a great night. Trust you got back home OK. I travelled back to the South East of England singing your songs...Thanks.

It's always a breath of fresh air returning to your and Tir na n'Og's songs periodically as I do. They bring such wonderful memories of 70s Dublin and a gentler sensibility. I love your new songs too. It's fantastic you've kept the flame burning all these years with such inventive, poetic music. You're an emerald of Eire, Sonny Condell. And so is Leo O'Kelly.

Just to say that I travelled from Yorkshire to see Sonny at the Irish Cultural Club in Hammersmith a few weeks ago. I used to see 'Tir na Nog' often way back in the 70's. I was so pleased to find details of both Sonny and Leo on the net and will definitely go over to Ireland next year to see them perform together. Listening to Sonny brought back all those wonderful memories!!! Many thaks

Best bet to find any of the Scullion albums on vinyl is possibly ebay or such like where they often appear for sale. Tir na nOg cds are available on amazon. Some songs playing also on the scullion myspace including eyelids into snow.

Of course Navigation and Backwater Awhile available for purchase on this site as cds and also someone to dance with, French Windows, and Backwater Awhile available for purchase as mp3 downlowds for the more tech savvy, from this site also. There are 40 second previews of all the songs and I would reccomend anyone to explore some of Sonny Condell's solo offerings.

Hi, I used to go and watch you play in the Elphin in Dun Laoghaire many years ago. I've been trying to find a copy of "Eyelids into snow" but to no avail - any ideas where I might lay my hands on a copy - it brings back a lot of good memories

Cheers in anticipation

Hi Sonny,
Just to let you know the old Scullion album from somewhere in the late seventies is still one of my favourite ever. Now curious to know what has happened to the members of teh band. We talked a while in a youth club in Meeuwen, Belgium when we were both a lot younger... All the best and I hope to see you perform in the future.
All the best,
Jan

Hi Sonny,
Just wanted to say thanks and that I am really happy to have found your site and to still be able to hear you perform after all these years. I was given a copy of ‘A Tear and a Smile’ in the early 70’s whilst I was just a daft wee laddie and just really getting to grips with the guitar. Up till then I was banging out really bad impressions of Wishbone Ash, Yes & Genesis etc. with my mates on a cheap electric guitar. We thought we were real heroes :-) I wasn’t exactly sure at the time just what it was about Tir Na Nog that appealed to me so much, I just knew that it was very different and that I liked it. I promptly threw the electric guitar away acquired my first 6 string acoustic and decided I was going to be a folk singer, much to the annoyance of my friends as it meant that our short careers as a young regular social club act had to be curtailed. I never have worked professionally since and can’t say that I ever mastered the art but I have no regrets as I might have missed out or otherwise failed to appreciate the wealth of traditional as well as the more modern Irish & Scottish folk music which somehow still manages to exist and even continues to emerge in a world which more and more seems like a really bazaar social experiment gone very badly wrong. Had I lived a hundred years ago, I might have been saying something similar but the story tellers and the songwriters of the time would still have said it much better I’ll bet. Apologies for not actually being Irish, but I won’t tell if you won’t.

All the best,
Alex

seriously delighted to hear about the latest shows announced. i've never seen scullion live so can't wait. i saw tir na nog in cork pavillion last year and it was mesmerizing.

i recently tracked down all the scullion lps (besides white side of night)..and i would love if they were re-released. the music is more relevant now than it was when it was released at first. it has aged very well indeed.

keep up the good work mo chairde

Nice new site Sonny. Does anyone have an idea where I could pick up the scullion LP on vinyl? I've been around Dublin a few times now trying to track it down.

Any help really appreciated!!
